One team, four companies
In 2009, Dave Jaeger had four employees, one truck, and a job on the 405 in Los Angeles, one of the busiest stretches of highway in America. The job was supposed to last six months. It lasted nearly six years and grew to 27 trucks running day and night.
The approach has stayed the same: answer the phone, show up, and work a little harder than everyone else.
Today Legacy Utility Group is made up of four operating companies, each with its own specialty and its own crews. Behind them, a shared enterprise team handles HR, finance, safety, technology, fleet, marketing, and continuous improvement, so the people in the field can focus on the work. You might wear a Nor-Cal, Guardian, Ground Recon, or JVAC logo, and you are part of Legacy Utility Group either way.
What it’s like to work here
Three values guide how we work and how we decide, and we do not trade them away for convenience or short-term gain.
- Integrity: Do What’s Right. We make decisions that reflect fairness, honesty, and compassion.
- Teamwork: Stronger Together. We look out for each other and hold ourselves accountable to the mission.
- Think Big: Level Up. Good enough is not where we stop. We keep pushing, learning, and improving.
People notice when you live those values. Our employee-led Culture Committee works to connect the field and the office across every company, with recognition, events, community involvement, and mentorship.
Employee ownership
Legacy is employee-owned. Nor-Cal Pipeline Services became 49% employee-owned when our ESOP launched in 2025, and for eligible employees, your ownership is tied to how all of the Legacy companies perform. The better we do together, the more your share grows.
ESOP participation is available to non-union employees. Employee-owners who volunteered for the Legacy Leadership Council share updates, answer questions, and help everyone understand how the plan works.
Benefits
Full-time employees* receive a benefits package built to support you and your family.
